How Bad Is It?


Traffic is the most frustrating thing in all our daily lives. It is that one thing that we wish we can prevent. Unfortunately, that can never be the case. Cities would eventually have to find new ways to expand and rebuild its transportation via highways, interstates, and even main roadways. However, cities such as Miami would have to succumb to expenses that far outweigh the good. Imagine going through the day from a 9 to 5 and frequently stumble onto oncoming traffic. Well, there are some solutions that can help our community.

Miami is ranked as one of the most congested cities not just in America, but on the global stage also as its ranked 6th nationwide and among the top 10 most congested cities in the world. Miamians spent around 64 hours a year on traffic jams or congestion of any kind across all of Miami and of Miami-Dade County, costing the city of Miami over $3 billion dollars. Unfortunately, never-ending road projects paved the way for far more congestion and drivers are prone to significant repercussions from a minor flat tire, to as far worse as a car flipping out of control. Remembered from many who lived in Miami in 1992 during hurricane evacuations, our city proves that traffic is an occurring reality and it can sometimes never be avoided. There is some glimmer of hope for residents who want to change the transit system.


Brightline Service


With continuous road projects, it can add more to the traffic problem in South Florida. However, the city of Miami is planning to expand its transit system with brand new operations that will expand the far reaches of Florida, as well as improving our quality of life. The all-new Brightline train service in which was introduced this year is a 235-mile-long stretch from Miami to Orlando International Airport. The cost for the project is up to $3 billion dollars. It will help aid the relief of traffic congestion throughout most parts of Florida (from South to Central Florida). Speaking of quality, Miami-Dade County are also planning to expand their Metrorail services with all new bike and pedestrian trails. The planned project from Brickell to Dadeland stations will promote active lifestyles from cycling to running. It will include special amenities such as a bike repair station that will be placed in certain locations between the two stations.





Brightline is still under construction as the final phases are being constructed across parts of Orlando. The planned duration for the trip has been two hours (Orlando to Miami), but this video is showing the starting point in West Palm Beach. Time will sure be different from across parts of Florida depending on rail traffic, speed, and efficiency of these trains. It will also show how fast and convenient these trains are compared to other bullet trains across the globe (if you wish). There incredibly fast and can travel to long distances for a short period of time. How will Brightline cope with Miami's rising traffic? Many will say otherwise, but it can benefit many who don't have access or have a driver's license. Especially when you have a car, you have to deal with traffic compare to others who take express trains.
